Popular choices include 9oz Oxford polyester (around 300D) for throws/fitted covers – it drapes nicely and offers good resilience. For a modern, snug fit, stretch covers use a sturdy polyester-spandex blend.
What exactly is a SEG lightbox?

A SEG (i.e. Silicon Edge Graphics) lightbox is a modern display system: the fabric graphics have silicone edges that fit snugly into aluminum frames. The fabric gets stretched across the frame - the key to a great display is stretching it to lay perfectly flat without a single wrinkle (even a small singular one can ruin the image). The display comes with built-in LED lighting. How do you install graphics in a fabric lightbox?

The installation process may look hard but can be surprisingly easy, if you master the trick to it. Don't start at one corner and work your way around - that'll give you headaches. Instead, insert the silicone edge at all four corners first, then the middle of each side, and finally fill in the remaining sections. This technique evenly distributes the tension so you get that drum-tight, perfect finish. The fabric should make a subtle "popping" sound as it locks into the channel. Most people get the hang of it after their first installation.

There are several options, but here at All for Signs we use a specialized polyester fabric called Aurora Backlit Fabric 8oz. It's specifically engineered to enhance light transmission - dense enough to diffuse the light evenly (preventing "hotspots"), but translucent enough to let the illumination shine through vibrantly. Another reason we chose Aurora Backlit fabric is because it holds dye-sublimation printing which we love exceptionally well. It means colors are that much richer, more vibrant and saturated when backlit. In comparison, regular fabrics either block too much light or create uneven bright spots, and colors often look paler and more drab.

How should I choose between single and double-sided lightboxes? Which is better for my client?

Well, it depends exactly what kind of brand your client represents and what effect they wish to achieve! A single-sided box (like our 40"x80" Single Sided model) has one illuminated face. It’s a perfect option for the wall-mounted ad we were talking about above. It has a solid back that stops light from escaping and bounces it forward, which makes the display pop and eye-catching - but does limit the visual reach (a prospective viewer can only catch what it displays from certain specific angles). A double-sided unit, in contrast, shows graphics on both sides. It’s a great option for a standing display, especially one that has to really trumpet the brand, and should be a focal point in the room. It uses more LED strips for both faces to look equally bright, and serve its main purpose: make sure that viewers see the display from multiple angles.
How do I clean the fabric if it gets dirty?

SEG Lightboxes may look high-tech and fragile, but they’re actually super easy to take care of! In fact, we’d argue it’s literally one of the best features of these displays. If you need to deal with large-ish or stubborn stains, say someone spills coffee on it or it picks up dirt from multiple shows, just pop the fabric out of the frame, throw it in the washing machine on a cold/gentle cycle with some mild soap. For minor stuff like dust or fingerprints, you won’t even need to do that much, just a lint roller or slightly damp microfiber cloth usually does the trick without removing the graphic. There’s just one catch when it comes to cleaning the fabric - do not, we repeat, DO NOT, put it in the drier. The fabric may shrink and then you won’t be able to stretch it over the frame as you used to (and, remember, fabric being a perfect fit is the entire reason for using this construction, ruining the stretch means ruining the entire display). Just let it air dry.
Can I order custom sizes beyond what's listed on the website?

Absolutely! Since we make everything here in our Florida facility, we can build pretty much any size you need. Got a weird wall niche that's 67.5" × 43.25"? No problem.
